Today with the high rate of staff turnover I find myself continually having to repeat basic training on developmentally appropriate practice (DAP). Are there any shortcuts to make this process easier? I'm tempted to develop small training modules with reading materials on each area so that I don't have to constantly cover the same ground with new teachers.
As useful as this approach might seem, I have found it doesn't result in the teaching practices I desire. It has the further disadvantage of taking the spirit out of in-service training. Before long, the staff and I are just going through the motions as if half asleep, or we're impatiently looking at the clock, wanting to start one of our other projects.
