Training Outcomes:

  3. Teachers will describe what children are learning when they play.
  4. Teachers will demonstrate to families that their cultural values and beliefs are understood and accepted by modifying descriptions of children's play to match family expectations.

These training outcomes address the following:

  • A-2, B-4b, B-4(d-e), B-7(a-h) of the Accreditation Criteria and Procedures of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC, 1998).
  • Standard 1a-c, 2, 3, 4b, and 5 of NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation, Initial Licensure Level (NAEYC, 2003).
  • 1304.21(a)(1)(i-iii), 1304.21(a)(2)(ii-iii), 1304.21(a)(3)(i)(E), 1304.40(a)(1), 1304.40(a)(5), and 1304.40(e)(3) of Head Start Performance Standards (Federal Register, Nov. 5, 1996, Volume 61, Number 215).
