GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION To plan, organize, and supervise Child Development Center operations and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Ensure that Texas Department of Family & Protective Services Child Care Licensing Standards and Texas Workforce Solutions CCS Rising Star Criteria are met and NAEYC Accreditation is achieved and maintained. Work with Child Development Program Director and instructors to offer a positive lab school setting and learning environment for students in the Child Development program. This position receives general direction from the Child Development Program Director and exercises direct supervision over para-professional and support staff. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in child development/early childhood that addresses child development and learning from birth through age 5. Education or training in administration, leadership, or management. Experience: Three years of teaching experience in a licensed child care center. One year of experience supervising adults. Must possess or qualify for a Child-Care Center Director's Certificate issued by Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. Commitment to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within four weeks of employment. SELECTION CRITERIA *Attach a brief statement addressing how you acquired each of the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities through your education, personal experience or previous employment: Knowledge of: (1) developmental stages of children; (2) principles, practices, and procedures of child development center operations; (3) educational methods and guidance techniques for child development programs; (4) nutrition and food preparation for child development centers; (5) employee supervision, training, and performance evaluation methods; (6) pertinent Federal, State and college laws, rules and regulations, including Texas Department of Family & Protective Services Child Care Licensing and NAEYC accreditation standard. Skills to: (7) use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email communications, and various web-based tools; (8) use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation in the preparation of reports, correspondence, newsletters, etc.; (9) communicate clearly and concisely - both orally and in writing - with parents, center staff, students, and faculty. Ability to: (10) plan and implement activities in the classroom with the children as needed; (11) recruit and maintain enrollment of children; (12) effectively administer a variety of health, safety, and human service activities; (13) coordinate program planning and budgeting; (14) coordinate the purchasing and inventory of consumable and non-consumable materials and supplies; (15) recruit and maintain contact with available substitutes; (16) interpret and apply Federal, State, and college policies; (17) establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

WORKING CONDITIONS Physical effort-Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Lifting (10-60 lbs), walking, pushing, pulling, stooping on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
